Lanchester Interactive Archive Discovery Space is a place that celebrates the genius of Frederick Lanchester, one of Britain's greatest inventors and engineers.
The archive offers physical exhibits, augmented reality experiences and an online collection of sketchbooks, blueprints, patents and correspondence, to understand how Lanchester’s ideas shaped modern airplanes and automobiles.
Discovery Space launched a competition brief, calling artists and designers to submit a piece of artwork inspired by Frederick Lanchester's legacy and achievements, to help promote the archive.
After exploring the online collection of sketchbooks, I decided to simplify and decompose some of the inventor's drawings and to focus on simple geometry and typography.
The result is a modernist poster, that resembles a blueprint.
